HOW IS THIS GALAXY?

For me, it is an excellent Galaxy: Star Bits everywhere, not very dangerous enemies, a new Power-Up... When you land, Toadbert tells you that the have find the Power Star, and Captain Toad is about to get it. Throughout you advance through the Galaxy, other Toads will tell you that a monkey with sunglasses has stolen the Star, and Captain Toad is chasing him. 

In the end, you find Captain Toad and the monkey, called The Chimp (Molonio in the Spanish version) gives you the Power Star.

CLOUD MARIO 

This is a new Power- Up that allows you to fly for a longer time, and to create three clouds by spinning. You must get a Cloud Mushroom to get three clouds. This Power-Up disappears when you touch the water.

ENEMIES

The enemies here are Goombas, Octoombas, Piranha Plants and some suicide birds called Flaptacks. In one phase, the Cosmic Clones will be chasing you until you get the Star Ring pieces.

MY ADVICE 

This Galaxy is for you to practise using Cloud Mario. You must have it if you want to walk through the clouds. Don´t try to do what this guy is doing. 

THE CHIMP´S STOMP CHALLENGE

HOW IS THIS GALAXY?

After receiving a letter from The Chimp, you return here. He tells you that the chalenge is stomping the enemies and collecting the coins,  until you reach 10000 points. You have 120 seconds to do it. 

ENEMIES

There are only Goombas and Octoombas in this Galaxy.

MY ADVICE 

There is a 1-Up at the top of a tree that will give you 1000 points. Collect it if you have enough time, you will need it. 

You can spin to do longer jumps and stomp more enemies. So try it. This will be helpful.

MY RECORD IS 10640 POINTS. WILL YOU REACH IT?

EVERY PLANET HAS ITS PRICE

HOW IS THIS GALAXY 

I discovered that there was a hidden Star here, so I decided to investigate. In one big cloud, there is a Hungry Luma that will ask you for... 100 coins to transform into a planet! WHAT? 

100 COINS!!! He will transform into a tower with a Power Star at the top. The difficult thing isn´t climbing the tower. It´s collecting the freaking 100 coins!!!

ENEMIES

As this Star is hidden in the first mission, the only enemies you will find are Goombas, Octoombas and Flaptacks, these birds here. 

MY ADVICE

There is a dark room inside a pipe where you can get tons of coinss, if you get them before they disappear. It is a good way to get the coins you must give to this Thief Luma.

BREAKING THE LAWS OF GRAVITY

(UNA MANSIÓN CON PROBLEMAS DE GRAVEDAD)

HOW IS THIS GALAXY 

This is a crazy Galaxy where you will be playing against the Gravity. In some phases you will have to walk on the roof, or on the walls. You will play against the Gravity during all the Galaxy.  Anyway, the objective is the same: to reach the Star in the end.

FIRE MARIO.

Yes, one of the most famous Mario Power-Ups is back. Fire Mario can throw fire balls for a limited period of time (20 seconds). This Power-Up also appeared in Super Mario Galaxy. Mario can break boxes or defeat enemies.  

ENEMIES.

Appart from the classic Goombas, you will find  Swaphopper (jumping enemies that you must defet by changing the Gravity direction), Giant Chain Chomps and Thwomps (these are the most dangerous enemies in the game , because the can kill you if they fall over you).

MY ADVICE

In one phase you can jump to the walls to avoid the Thwomps, and you can go directly to the Power Star. It has helped me a lot, in order not to be smashed.

THE GREAT CRATE INCINERATOR

(¡A FUEGO LIMPIO!)

HOW IS THIS GALAXY?

This is another Hidden Star. You must enter through a pipe that will transport you to a room when you can practise using Fire Mario before you go to the final phase. A  Gearmo (Mecachacha in Spanish) will tell you that you must burn out a lot of boxes in only 20 seconds. If you can do it, she will give you the Hidden Star.

ENEMIES

You will find the classic Goombas and the Swaphopper before the Green pipe.

MY ADVICE

One Fire Ball can break even three boxes. Do not rush and keep calmed because you can repeat this experiment all the times you want, until you get the Star. You will not lose Lives, I can assure you that.

 BOWSER JR.´S FIERY FLOTILLA

GOBBLEGUT´S  ACHING BELLY

HOW IS THIS GALAXY

You will have to advance through Bowser Jr´s spacehips and the rocks, in this Galaxy. The music is not epic enough for this Galaxy, and, until the boss, this is not particularly hard. But the boss plants a huge battle. This is how the Galaxy starts:

ENEMIES.

The enemies you can find here are Thwomps, Dry Bones (they regenerate after being killed), Goombeetles- Goombas with helmet, that you can´t kill by jumping on them, and Kamek.

GOBBLEGUT (FINAL BOSS) 

When you reach, the final planet, you face Bowser Jr, the Koopa King´s son, but he calls Gobblegut, a Chinese long dragon that is quite difficult to kill. He can attack you in one part of the planet, and defending himself in the other. He has 6 red Rings in the belly, that you must it to defeat him. But it is not that easy. After hitting him three times, he will get angry and it will be more difficult.  After defeating him, you get a Maxi Star, that will allow you to enter to World 2. 

Gobblegut is mentioned in other Mario Games, such as Mario Kart 8 and Mario+Rabbids. Kingdom Battle.

BUT THIS ISN´T OVER... 

WORLD 1-1. THE GREAT COSMIC ADVENTURE BEGINS

SKY STATION GALAXY

 (GALAXIA JARDINES SIDERALES) 

PEE-WEE PIRANHA TEMPER TANTRUM

HOW IS THIS GALAXY? 

After you enter in the Star Ring, you are thrown to the Sky Station Galaxy. A Luma will tell you that Bowser has stolen the Power Stars. You have to climb to the roof of Yoshi´s house. Here a Star Ring will throw you to the next phase.

 The Lumas will help you to advance through the Galaxy, and will tell you news about Bowser: He has scaped with Peach and the Power Stars. After defeating the boss in the end, you will get the first star of the game.

RAINBOW MARIO 

In one point of the Galaxy, you will find a coloured star, that will transform you in Rainbow Mario. It will give you invulnerability for a short period of time. You will kill all the enemies you touch. Do you know the Rainbow Mario song? I like to sing it, although it is in Spanish:

Soy invencible,

no puedes tocarme, 

puedes correr, 

pero no esconderte...

ENEMIES.

In this Galaxy, you can find Goombas-the normal Mario enemies, and its cosmic variation,  the Octoombas.

You can defeat both of them by jumping on their heads. But the real problem is to defeat the boss. 

PEE-WEE PIRANHA (BOSS)

He is still a baby, so his attacks are not really difficult to evade. You must hit him in the egg twice to find the butt and hit him there. He will get angry and you will have to repeat this process. 

MY ADVICE.

This is not a very difficult Galaxy, (even my mother could defeat Pee-Wee Piranha) but I recommend getting the Red Mushroom (It will allow you to have 6 HP) to avoid surprises with Pee-Wee Piranha. You can get a lot of 1-Up mushrooms, so do not worry if you die. 

STORMING THE SKY FLEET 

(¡ASALTO A LA ESTACIÓN BALÍSTICA!)

HOW IS THIS GALAXY?

To enter to the Sky Fleet, you will need to get a key so you can help the Luma that will transport you to this spaceship. You will have to find the hole to get inside the spaceship and to keep going through this Galaxy.

ENEMIES

In this Galaxy there are a lot of Banzai Bills, huge, enormous bullets that can destroy you. You can only kill them with Rainvow Mario.

There is a mini-boss in the end, a huge Piranha Plant, that you will have to destroy to get the Star. 

You will find another enemies, such as Chain Chomps (we´ll talk about them in another Galaxy and Amps (do you remember the video of 128 ways of dying here?).

MY ADVICE

This Galaxy would be easy if we removed one enemy: The freaking Cosmic Clones. They are the worst characters in the game!!!! They are chasing you and you cannot stop or return to a place. They will hit you. I hate them!!! They are just.... AAAARGH impossible! 

Fortunately, in this Galaxy, they only appear in the Switch part (you have to turn yellow all the Switches to eliminate them) but they will return.

YOSHI´S STAR GALAXY

(GALAXIA ESTRELLA DE YOSHI)

SADDLE UP WITH YOSHI

HOW IS THIS GALAXY?

This Galaxy is focused on Yoshi, so we can say he is the Star of the Galaxy (Ok, I recognise it was a bad joke).  At the beggining, Yoshi is prisioned at his egg. You need to defeat Kamek to free him.

It is like a tutorial of how to use Yoshi. He can eat fruit and some enemies. You can jump higher with him. When you spin, he will move his head. He can use flowers to keep flying.  

BUT... IF AN ENEMY HITS HIM, HE WILL RUN AWAY.

ENEMIES.

There is a huge amount of enemies. Appart from the Goombas and the Octoombas, you will find Piranha Plants, Flipbugs (what I call the Suicide Mosquitoes) and Kamek, who you need to kill to free Yoshi.

MY ADVICE.

Honestly, the Galaxy isn´t very difficult: There are plenty of 1-Ups, it is almost impossible to fall to the floor. But i´ve got an advice: Do not walk in the mud. It will be impossible for you to jump, and you can die there. Look what it happens (5:51- 6:03)!!!!

SPINY CONTROL

(¡LANZAMIENTO DE PINCHONES!)

HOW IS THIS GALAXY?

After returning from Mario´s spacehip, you se that something has changed. There are a lot of Spinies. You can eat them and throw them to glasses covering coins, 1-Up mushrooms or even Star Rings and Lumas. The Spinies can break the glasses.  According to this video there is an easy way to do it.

But you will have to defeat a boss in the end...

ENEMIES.

The basic enemies here the Spinies and the Lakitus. As the second ones are always regenerating to throw more monsters from their clouds, it will be impossible to defeat them all. Just try to break the glasses with the Spinies that Yoshi can eat.

GIGA LAKITU (BOSS)

Well, it was expectable, no? If the only enemies here are Spinies and Lakitus, one of them should be the boss. 

Giga Lakitu will throw you Spinies. You must eat them and counter-attack throwing them back to him. He´s moving, so it will not be easy. In addition, he can throw thunder and hit you, so you lose Yoshi. Fortunately, you can recover the Green Friend. After hitting him twice, he will turn red.

You must hit him three times to defeat him and get the Star.

MY ADVICE

I recommend to practise throwing the Spinies, becuse you must be pretty accurate to hit the boss three times. Try to get a 6-Point Red Mushroom so it is easier for you. What I have is a question about the boss: Why are the glasses the last thing falling to the ground?

HOW IS THE GALAXY

As the previous one, this Galaxy is a tutorial of how to use the Spin Drill. You will have to advance through the planets by drilling and finding the Lumas that will transport you to the next phase. 

Before the battle against the boss, you will find Captain Toad, in his Mushroom Spaceship. He encourages you to fight against the boss. 

SPIN DRILL

The first Power-Up in the game after Rainbow Mario. It will allow to dig in the planet and to reach new places. The only thing you must do is spinning to activate it and dig, dig, dig. You will lose it if an enemy hits you or if you touch a Star Ring.

ENEMIES

In the upper photo you can see the enmies  of these Galaxy: the Diggas, robts that can make you lose 1 HP. Another enemy is the Twirlip, an enemy that seems like a flower.

DIGGA-LEG (BOSS) 

This boss is bigger than the planet where he is fighting. It is a massive robot that can create Diggas to disturb you. But he has a weak point: his belly. Hit him there three times and you will get the Star. 

Here is when I discovered that when you die, you lose all your coins. This horrendous robot stole me 80 coins!!! I hated him so much.

MY ADVICE

You will  find a Hungry Luma that will give you a mushroom if you pay 30 Star Bits before the battle against the boss. If you have the 30 Star Bits, buy a 6-HP Red Mushroom. Digga-Leg can be tough, and this is not the only time you will fight him. 

DIGGA-LEG WILL TAKE REVENGE!

SILVER STARS DOWN DEEP

HOW IS THIS GALAXY? 

Here you will need the Spin Drill again. After escaping from the Cosmic Clones, you will obtain some herbs that will help you to reach new phases. 

The last phase of the Galaxy is a planet in which there are 5 Silver Stars. According to one Toad called Toadbert, after collecting them, the 5 Silver Stars will join and form a Power Star. 

ENEMIES

Yes, the Diggas are back, and in the first phase you will have to deal with the Cosmic Clones. There are also Goombas, Amps... Many enemies to stop the plumber.

( In this video you can see that it is possible to play as Luigi).

MY ADVICE

After the battle against the boss, this is a really calmed Galaxy. However,  be careful with the Amps and use the Spin Drill when you need it. I died once because of these monsters.

FLIP SWAP GALAXY 

(GALAXIA VUELTA Y VUELTA)

THINK BEFORE YOU SHAKE

HOW IS THIS GALAXY 

You will get here after feeding a Hungry Luma with 300 Star Bits. In this Galaxy there are Red and Blue panels. You can switch from one another by shaking the Wii remote. But (although it may be repetitive) THINK twice before shaking or you will die. If you don´t want to shake you can try to do like  in these videos:

ENEMIES

You will find Goombas, Octoombas and Chain Chomps. This huge dogs can push you out of the platforms if you touch them. However, they will fall if they can´t advence throgh the red or the blue panels.

MY ADVICE.

You will need to combine Jumps with Spins. My advice is to contol the timing, and jump and shake in the correct moment, or you will die. Go to 4:09 of the video.

THE BASES OF SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2

STARTING THE GAME

When you start the game, you receive an invitaton from Princess Peach to eat some cake while watching the stars. On the road to Peach´s castle you find one little and tiny Luma (the living stars that appeared in the first part). He is the young master of the Lumas. The little Luma gets calmed and decides to go with Mario. Everything looks good.  

But Bowser will appear to kidnap Princess Peach. What a surprise, no? But the difference is that he is huge, enormous. You will have to follow him to rescue Princess Peach and all the Power  Stars that Bowser has stolen. 

We will talk about the Galaxies later.

BASIC CONTROLS

To play this game you will need the Wii remote and the Nunchuk. Let me explain the basic things:

You move Mario with the Nunchuk, and you jump with A.

There are different ways to jump: the triple jump (press A three times each one when you touch the floor), the Bomb jump (A and then Z), the reverse Jump (Z and A) and the Length jump (Z and A while you are running). One difference with the other Mario games is that you can spin shacking the Wii remote. By doing this, you can defeat enemies, activate new things and even do longer jumps. 

WHAT TO DO WHILE PLAYING

In this Mario 3D game, you will find many secrets, but what you have to do is to progress through the level to reach the Power Star in the end. There are Green pipes and Star Rings (second 3:35 in the upper video) that will allow to reach new phases. You must collect Star Bits and coins (they help to recover your HP). In the first level of each Galaxy there is a Comet Medal, that you must get if you want to pass the game 100%. 

There are a lot of Stars in this game-242 exactly- but I will tell you about them, so this game is not a problem anymore.

There are also many enemies and Power-Ups. Don´t rush. We will analize all of them.

You may not be an excellent player, just like me. So don´t worry if you die. In fact there are 128 ways to die. I´ve experimented all the ways, I promise. 

MARIO´S SPACESHIP

As in Super Mario Galaxy, you can find the headquarters. It is a spaceship that seems like a planets with Mario´s face. It uses the energy of Power Stars you get in the game to move through the different Galaxies. The boss of the spaceship is called Lubba ( Destrella in the Spanish version of the game). 

 

LUIGI AND THE ORANGE LUMA 

In some Galaxies, Luigi can replace Mario if you want to play as the Green brother. There is a Cooperative mode (or Co-op) in which the second player controls an orange Luma. The only thing it does is defeating weak enemies and getting coins and Star Bits. That´s why all great games for one person are boring for two people. It happens in this game, it will happen in Super Mario Odyssey. 

THE COSMIC SPIRIT

Don´t worry if you are in trouble and you can´t get a Star in a Galaxy: After you die a few times, the Cosmic Spirit will appear next to you. It is a black women, similar to Rosalina, the cosmic prtincess. She will ask you if you want help to get the Star. If you answer YES, she will possess you and take you to the Star. However what tou will get is a Bronze Star. You will have to try on your own, as I did, to get the Power Star. 

HISTORY OF SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2

WHAT IS SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2?

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a platform videogame developed by Nintendo EAD Tokio. It was the second part of Super Mario Galaxy. It was available in 2010. 

It was the fourth game of Mario in 3D, after Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and its first part, Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo sold more than 6,36 millions. It was a complete success, don´t you think?

HOW WAS IT DEVELOPED?

After completing Super Mario Galaxy, Shigeru Miyamoto, the man that created this 25 year-old plumber, purposed to produce a second part. The first idea was to make variations to the planets of Super Mario Galaxy (well, in some cases, it was the same Galaxy: just see Galaxia Corredor Rocoso). The game was about to be called Super Mario Galaxy More. The elements added were the ones that weren´t chosen to appear in the original game, or others to avoid getting blocked during the game, such as including Yoshi, or creating a planet of Mario´s head.

The director of the game was Koichi Hayashida. The planets were designed by Kanuzori Hashimoto,  and the levels were designed by Haruka Kakinuma. So, when  you die in a level, remember to accuse these people. 

SOUNDTRACK

The music of Super Mario Galaxy 2 was played by an orchestra, just like in the first part. Although they weren´t decided to pay an orchestra, Shigeru Miyamoto said that the gamer would like to listen to good music while playing. So the soundtrack is the same of Super Mario Galaxy, but with some changes, and they included music from other games, such as Super Mario 64 and Super Mario World. Here it is one extract of the soundtrack. I hope you enjoy it.

AN INSULTING TITLE?

Have a look at this image of Super Mario Galaxy. You will notice that some letters are shining.

The U and the R from Super, the M and the R from Mario, and the G, A and Y from Galaxy. Read this letters: U´re Mr. Gay. Nintendo apologised for this, saying that the letters were chosen randomly, and in the title of Super Mario Galaxy 2 tried to avoid this type of things.

SUPER MARIO GALAXY 3?

After these two succesful games, we were all expecting a Super Mario Galaxy 3, but we´ll have to wait. A Super Mario Galaxy 3 was impossible for Wii U, the games machine that came after Wii. In the actual machine-Nintendo Switch- there will be a game called Super Mario Odyssey, which I consider it will be as great as these galactic games.
